I can't believe the perfect timing of this workshop! The brand new Version 8 is just now being released, so you will be learning the most current version available. EQ8 is redesigned with a friendly new look that includes large interface elements for faster, more intuitive learning. EQ8 comes with more than 40 new and updated features, including thousands of new block designs and fabrics.
What a great way to dig into your stash and learn to use the Brand New Electric Quilt-8 software at the same time! This 2-day workshop takes you through the entire process of using your own fabrics (or newly purchased fabrics) to design and construct your quilt. The first day of the workshop you will work entirely learning the Electric Quilt software. Then will scan your fabrics, draw your foundation/paper piecing quilt blocks, and lay out your quilt using your scanned fabrics. By the end of the day, you will print paper/foundation piecing patterns that are ready to sew. The second day of the workshop, you will learn to sew blocks on paper using the patterns you created and printed. You’ll choose to create Tipsy Houses as shown here, or use a completely different pattern. A total quilt design experience!
You will need to bring your laptop computer with EQ-8 loaded. EQ-8 is brand new, so they do not have a student version available. That means you will need to purchase the software for the class. Fabrics Unlimited will have EQ-8 full version and upgrade version available for purchase. The upgrade is available only if you currently have a registered copy of EQ-7.
When you purchase the full version or upgrade, the EQ8 package contains a software download license. There is no CD, DVD or USB. There is a License ID and Password found in the package. This information will allow the purchaser to download the software from the EQ website. You will select either PC or Mac at the time of the download. The package also contains a 48-page booklet with complete instructions on how to claim the download on the Electric Quilt website, installation, activation, a starter lesson, quick tips and tools reference.
Lunch is included both days.
