Threadology

Comprehensive class on the science and art of thread selection. Students will learn in-depth about different types of sewing/quilting threads, their properties, proper thread selection for various projects, and how to troubleshoot common sewing issues related to thread usage.

Focus on thread knowledge:The class delves into different thread types like cotton, polyester, silk, metallic, and nylon, explaining their strengths and weaknesses depending on the fabric and project.

Needle selection:Participants learn how to choose the right needle size and type to complement the chosen thread for optimal stitching.

Tension adjustments:Understanding how thread tension works on a sewing machine and how to adjust it for different thread types is a key part of the class.
- Practical demonstrations:
Hands-on practice with various threads and fabrics is often included to solidify learning.
This class will be more lecture demo in the morning with hands-on after lunch. NOTE: This will be for both sewing machines and long arm machines. If you want to participate in the hands on portion, be sure to bring your sewing machine. Those of you interested in hands-on with a long arm quilting will use our HandiQuilter long arm machines (2 people per machine).
